Buying a Nintendo Wii for young kids
Out of all the new video game consoles, the Wii, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 (and also the Nintendo DS / DS Lite), the Wii is the most ideal console for people wanting to buy a new fun console for young kids and children, as it allows people to most easily get into a game. Other games such as on the Xbox, Xbox 360, Playstation 2 or Playstation 3 almost all have a heavy emphasis on the video game story and so for young kids it may be hard to grasp the concept.
However the Wii is a completly new video game console type and it is fully aimed at being able to be used by the whole family - so young kids will have no trouble playing the Nintendo Wii
Buy a chipped Nintendo Wii
Chipped Wii's would in theory allow you to play almost any game on the Wii. However there are some serious problems with chipped Wii's mainly the fact that they're illegal in most countries.

Buy Nintendo Wii
Buy Nintendo Wii is the thing you want to do! Well, no, actually you will want to pre order a Nintendo Wii. Do you remember when the Microsoft Xbox came out? The world went crazy, and because all the consoles had been bought people had to pay premium prices (often upto 600% of the actual price) on ebay to get it for their children before christmas
Don't worry, this isn't a sales pitch. This is just set up to make people aware that they should pre order a nintendo wii before the release date is announced. Once the release date is announced the world goes bl**dy crazy about it and everyone goes and pre orders it, and people end up missing out.
Do you really want to come downstairs on christmas day to find that your son isn't happy with his cr*p gamecube, rather than the Nintendo Wii that he was hoping for on Christmas day. We're just providing information to parents who want to know about buying a Wii for their children for Christmas

More information when buying Nintendo Wii games
If you do not quite know what you are looking for when buying a Nintendo Wii or Games (especially if you are a parent buying a game or a Wii as a gift) be sure to look out for the following information:
The age rating on games - check it is sutiable for your child or children
Make sure it is a Wii game. Take a look at the Wii logo.
Only the above two are really important, but here are some also sort of important rules to follow when buying Wii (or any other) games for your children:
Make sure it is for the correct region (such as PAL if you are in UK (and most of Europe) or NTSC in North America). If you buy from any big name store, you won't really have to worry about this. It only matters when you buy dodgy second hand or pirated versions. Pirated versions only work on "chipped" consoles (also called a modded wii), which are often illegal and often break.
Check you have a TV to connect the Wii to! Almost all modern tvs that work with a ps2 (playstation 2), xbox, or even a dvd player will work fine.
Finally, if you are buying a Nintendo Wii for christmas - make sure you buy a game as well. Although you can connect it to the internet (broadband) (which is very simple, don't worry. Bookmark this page, and when it comes out we will have a full guide), and download retro games such as games on the Nes and Snes (that came out in the 80s and 90s). Don't worry, these are classics, such as Super Mario Bros. But buy a good new Wii game.
